Vanadinite
Vanadinite, chlorinated lead vanadate, formula Pb5(VO4)3Cl.
Crystal system: Hexagonal.
Vanadinite is a relatively rare lead mineral occurring in the oxydation zones of lead deposits. One of the best-known localities for vanadinite is Mibladen in Morocco where a particularly attractive combination of vanadinite with calcite frequently occurs. The specimen shown is from Mibladen, 12Km east of Midelt, Morocco. |
